A Few Things...

Summer is clicking right along (and almost over, now), and I just wanted to update you with a few things that have been going on.

We are in the middle of swimming lessons right now, and things are going amazingly! All three are doing an excellent job, and are improving each day! The boys' confidence and ease in the water is great, and Maggie's enthusiasm for swimming grows each day! I don't have any pictures of the events - since my iphone and water don't get along too well... and I haven't taken my good camera (I'm sure it and water don't jive, either!)

We also had a fun 5 weeks of Kindermusik. This was Chaps' favorite summer event! It was mainly for Chap and Whit (Maggie was too old) - but since we come as a package deal, the Kindermusik leader was kind enough to let Maggie join in with us. It became a favorite of her's, too. They loved the music!! It was a little too much structure for Whit, but by the fifth week, he was liking it more and doing better.

Gymnastics is coming to a close, too - with just one more week to go. The kids have really enjoyed it. After three weeks of standing and crying for the first 5 minutes, and just standing and watching the rest of the 45 minutes - Chap finally decided to join in! And, he's done a great job and hasn't looked back ever since! Whit is an old pro with the gymnastics thing, and is really improving his gross motor skills and gymnastics abilities! Maggie is getting stronger, and more coordinated with her skills, as well. She's loving getting back into tumbling and gymnastics after a short break with dance.

Mixed in with our extra-curricular activities of the summer, we have had numerous dr. appointments and check-ups. Maggie's 6-year well visit, Whit's neuro cog. appointment (see below in another post called Tender Mercies), Whit's physical rehabilitation appointment, Maggie's eye appointment (due to pediatrician referral after her vision screening), Whit's eye appointment (due to recommendation from several doctors and Whit's OT), dentist check-ups, Casting for Whit's new boots (due to the physical rehabilitation appointment and outgrowing his old ones), and a few more to go....

After all of these appointments, here is one outcome...
And...

NO, Not really!

Yes... Maggie got glasses. Turns out her right eye is weak, and since she's at such a crucial time in her reading/schooling career... glasses were recommended. She is quite excited about them, and looks rather cute and studious, don't you think??

No, Whit does NOT need glasses. However, it was determined that he does have quite a weakness with visual perception. This is exactly why his occupational therapist had referred us to have his vision tested. His vision/ visual perception (tracking, hand-eye coordination, etc.) is on a 2-year old level. Therefore, he was recommended for Vision Therapy twice a week.

He still has his developmental assessment and behavioral assessment coming up with TCH, as well has his PPCD evaluation. We could really use your prayers during all of these assessments and transitions. Behaviorally, Whit has really been testing his boundaries lately, and his developmental delays do not make it any easier. As he is getting older, it seems the gap is increasing in some areas. We have several decisions and things to think about in the next month as far as he is concerned, so your prayers are coveted!

While Maggie gets her glasses polished, her new backpack, her new lunch box, and other school clothes and supplies ready; and Chap gears up for his PK-3 class with new clothes, new lunch box, and new nap mat... Whit's destination for the next school year is still up in the air, but I will leave you with this little play-time that was captured on video the other day...
